Registering your Vehicle

If Idaho is your principal place of residence for 30 continuous days, you’ll need to register your out-of-state car with the Idaho Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV). Depending on the county you reside in, you may need to have a VIN inspection.

Exchanging your Out-of-State Driver’s License

If you have an out-of-state driver’s license or a commercial driver’s license (CDL), you’ll need to apply for an Idaho’s driver’s license within 30 days of residing in Idaho. You do not need an Idaho driver’s license if you’re only in Idaho temporarily to attend college/university or to fulfill military obligations.
